We are lucky to have space for a gallery in our new Windsor shop, and we'll be showcasing the work of one local artist each month.  Windsor resident Annalies is our very first featured artist.  You can find her work along the back wall of the gallery area for the month of May.

My collection is influenced by nature. I create my colourful butterflies, animals, bugs and flowers using different mediums including acrylics, ink, pen, multimedia and metallic effect to create movement. Having studied printed textile design at University, pattern and texture are an important part of my art.
Since I was a child I have loved butterflies. For me these butterflies are like little pieces of magic that appear and float around. I have tried to convey their movement and delicate nature in my artwork. At the beginning of 2019, I painted my ‘Pink” butterfly and continued to paint more butterflies, bugs, animals and flowers which I now have hand embellished prints and greeting cards of.

I was born in Dublin, but grew up and went to school in the Chalfonts, Buckinghamshire. At school the art room was the place I loved to be. I was very lucky to have an inspiring and enthusiastic art teacher, I have lovely memories of hours spent painting there.
I enjoy travelling and my husband Adrian and I spent a few years living in Helsinki and a short time in California, before settling in Windsor for good!
For me art takes me away from the stresses of life, and also enhances the positive experiences. It is a way to process thoughts and be present while creating a visual representation of a moment in a day or period of time. My ‘Dream’ butterfly was a product of feelings during the second lockdown, influenced by nature, the people I miss, the rainbows and connecting with people. My emotions from that moment in time, I put in to my art.

I have always spent time drawing and painting with my 3 boys, and over the last year in particular. As a result they have inspired me to create a YouTube channel with some drawing tutorials. I love to sit and draw with them and see how happy they are when they create something they like. I have done some art workshops with children and I really believe art is a lovely relaxed way for children to build confidence, express themselves and process the world. As well as my small art business, I also work in a local school.

I believe everyone is an artist you just have to go for it and put your heart into it!
